I am again eternally grateful to you, Harry; it's reassuring  and wonderful to know you are there to take care of these things!

Al's oncologist and surgeon thought they had a shot at his cancer, however a scan showed it was a lot more advanced than they thought it was and no chemo in the world was going to help him. These two doctors were so human and real - they are rare in this day and age.  They both accommodated their schedules for us, we had their numbers, and a nurse just said "Jane's here" one day and he didn't have to ask or look up a chart to know which patient, he took it upon himself to call us just to update; he even came to the hospital yesterday on his day off to speak with Al and us.  Al's nursing staff were genuinely caring and interested in him.  All this said to ensure you know Al was well cared for - we can't fault these hospital professionals for anything.

Al slid quickly; within a couple days it became difficult to understand what he was trying to say.  Early yesterday evening Al's breathing became a bit "different"; he made tonal noises and his eyebrows raised on the "high notes". His best friend/brother (Mike) said he was auditioning for the choir of angels as a backup singer.  He quieted after a little bit and, about 9pm last night, Al passed his audition and peacefully joined that choir.

Please know and be comforted that Al appreciated all the well wishes and prayers sent to him and on his behalf - whether they be in person, passed on verbally or written.  (I wish I could describe the look when I told him Moonshine tried to get Patrick to allow her to have a pygmy goat - with it's own log cabin.)  I know, when I read cards to him, he acknowledged them all with a nod, smile, raised eyebrow - something.  I know some of you feel bad you didn't get to see him - please don't.  He knew you cared, he knew the distance, he didn't want visitors all the time.  He knew he was loved and he loved in return.  We have lost a rare man.

The meeting with the funeral director is today and I will let you know about arrangements as soon as I can.

This is Moonshine-Bluesman I know  PaPa Joe was waiting for you and that you are not suffering any more. But my heart is hurting. I am so thankful we got to meet you. That moment we pulled up to the highschool and I spotted you and finally go to give you a big hug is one I will always treasure. And when I completely lost it during Amazing Grace you quietly put your hand on my knee-
I miss our chats during the day when I am supposed to be working. It was always nice getting that morning email from you. Thank you for being such a good friend to me, to all of us here in Georgia. I promised you that Snort will be taken care of should anything happen and he will.
Thank you for all you did for our Soldiers and their families. We have lost a special person. To all of our family up North-the GA WWR sends our deepest condolences and all our hearts are hurting today with you.

The WWR family mourns the loss of another truly wonderful member. Al your work here is done my brother, but your mission in Region 7 has just begun. You tried, and did so much for so many of our soldiers and Marines, and the work you did with the FOF was second to none. You showed your passion in everthing you did. You will be sorely missed my brother but I know you won't be quite for long. May you Rest in Peace Al, and know you will "NOT BE FORGOTTEN".

Al's final ride is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 2 - visitation starting at 10am at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, PA.

Some final details still need to be worked out, so please keep watch on this post.

This Funeral Director's only experience with bikers at a funeral was not a good one.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to honor our friend and show others our meaning of respect!

I hope Al knows how much we will miss him.

I hope they have chili for his welcome party.

I hope he is kicking back with Papa Joe, Jon D, and Stretch.

I was on my way home from Long Island when I stopped somewhere in north Jersey for lunch. It was then that I first heard the news. I had wanted to stop in and visit him, but wanted to wait till he was up to having a visit. Just yesterday I checked to see if he was ready, because I would have stopped by today. It was heartbreaking to find out it was too late. I got back on the bike to head home, and the skies opened up and cried buckets on me. All I could think of was all of Al's friends, weeping at the news of his passing. But then I remembered, I have yet another angel to watch over me. And as I crossed the bridge from NJ into PA in gale force winds, I wondered if Al was looking out for me. And then the storm cleared, and by the time I got home, my rain gear was mostly dry.

Thank you Al. Please keep an eye out for all of us.

On his death bed and he was raising awareness for WWR and "coined" a nurse..

That was the man in a nutshell... with his dying breaths he set the bar to new levels for all of us..

That old school type of loyalty for friends and causes is something  you're born with .. a true measure of a man's character..

His spot on this planet is going to be hard to fill for sure..

I was at the 'Teach the Children' ride at Schuylkill Elementary two years ago: when Al got up in front of those kids, he worked magic. It was like he was the Pied Piper! He will truly be missed.

This is truely hard....

Al,

I met you for the first and only time at a very difficult time in my life but you helped ease that pain.  You came from a far in friendship and respect to my husband, Joe.  It was evident that the ride was difficult in more ways than one.  I believe you knew it was going to be your last ride and I am honored that you wanted to be at the memorial for Joe.

Please give Joe a hug for me and enjoy your eternal ride together!  This one will not end!

Love you Al,
Carol

I would say "rest in peace", but Al has so, so many friends and people he has honored waiting for him, that I'm sure he will not be resting, but instead will be partying and shaking everyone's hand for a long time. Al left many friends here, but there are many, many more where he is now. He will never be alone. Thanks for everything Al, you are the epitome of a true American Patriot.

Hey buddy..you and Snort are together again. That makes me smile even though my heart breaks every time I walk into the house and he isn't here. Patrick and I fell in love with him during the short time we had him. Heck I fell in love him just by pictures you would post or stories you would tell me. He was such a good dog. We are grateful for the time we had with him. He made us laugh every day. I will never forget the first day we got him. We couldn't get over how big he was. He was so big when we put him in the back yard the horses ran from him. And when we brought him inside our two girls didn't know what he was lol. As we were adjusting to him and having such a big dog in the house I found a 7lb chihuahua. So in 2 weeks we got the biggest dog and the smallest dog we ever had inside :)
And of course the little one LOVED Snort. She constantly ran to be next him but we had to be careful because he could squish her without meaning too. He was so noisy, had to smell everything. Which for him meant putting that big ole nose right on something. He cleared out many of rooms with that gas of his..you never heard it coming. He loved firewood..and the Christmas tree. And he loved to sleep next to me on the couch or air mattress. I know I know, he wasn't a lap dog.
Letting him go was one of the hardest things we have done but we had to. Please give him some love for me and tell him how much we miss him..even Missy.
Miss you Al.

Al,
I am hoping I will be able to make a trip up North soon to finally met Mike. And I will be stopping at your Vet's office. That is long over due. I really want to thank him for all he did for Snort. I still miss you both a lot. I saw some bulldog puppies awhile back at our local feed store. I RAN over to them with Patrick right behind me saying "NOOOOO!" I know we don't need another dog but I really wanted one. I told the guy about you and Snort. One day we will have another bully. We were saying the other day how happy Snort would be in our house right now with 5 female dogs. He loved the females :)

Miss you.

Oh Harry!!!  I wonder if Ash is still crying from seeing that pic!

Lee, Al was a wonderful man and one who'll never be forgotten!  Wish you'd known him too.  There were a couple people who, it is believed, felt threatened by Al - that he did things so well and truly cared about the troops and our Veterans.  They made things difficult for him at times, but Al always stayed the course.

For whatever if anyone's wondering - the picture was taken at a funeral in Georgia (Papa Joe); Al was gone from us a month later.   Snort was his bulldog and nobody in this area could care for him; Moonshine and Patrick took him and cared for him lovingly till he joined Al.

Lee, Al  was a fine man to be sure. A former school music teacher who cared about our troops and first responders more ( I think) than his own health. You missed one of the good ones Lee. :'(
