It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing this update.

Bob passed away tonight about 8pm.  He was surrounded by his and Kathleen's families.

Kathleen said Bob went peacefully and even made them laugh in the last moments of his life.

Bob was a remarkable man and put up one hell of a fight.  He was much stronger than any of us could have ever imagined.

Kathleen has asked that we do not call her right now; she needs some time to herself and will let us know when she needs us.  Please respect her wishes as this is a very difficult time.

Please keep Kathleen in your thoughts and prayers.

The visitation will be Tuesday, August 7, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake.  Pastor John Drake will officiate.  Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s name may be made to Hearts of Gold, PO Box 7806, Algonquin, IL 60102 or the Wounded Hero’s Foundation, 161 N. Clark St., Ste. 4200, Chicago, IL 60601.

Warriors Watch has been asked to escort our brother from the funeral home to his final resting place.  No flag line will be needed.

Bikes for BOB.....lets show up in force to show him and Kath that they mean the world to us!

If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend...

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ. 2. The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your Freedom.

Ya fought hard and long Bob.  Time to ride easy in Region 7 with our buds.  Man there's some good people there.  Somehow, when it's my turn to relocate there, it'll be a whole lot easier knowing you all will be there, waiting to show us all the cool roads..

Until we ride again..

Native American Prayer
I give you this one thought to keep,
I'm with you still. I do no sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone
I am with you still, in each new dawn.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand there at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die.

Tha battle was fought like a man my friend.
I will miss that humor. To Kathy and family my prayers and thoughts are with you.

MaMa Kat
I feel a warmth around me
like your presence is so near,
And I close my eyes to visualize
your face when you were here,
I adore the times we spent together
and they are locked inside my heart,
For as long as I have those memories
we will never be apart,
Even though we cannot speak no more
my voice is always there,
Because every night before I sleep
I have you in my prayer.

It is terribly hard to even try and put my feelings in to words....there just arent any.Bob, you will be missed by a great many. More BROTHERS than you ever thought you would have. We have missed seeing you lend your back, for our returning Hero's to sign the welcome home banner...so many things about you....will be MISSED. YOU, laying down on the ground in front of the group pictures.....and, giving the waitress a hard time in a "funny" way, every time we went out to eat..You will be MISSED my friend....DEEPLY, and never forgotten. You may not have been a VET yourself....but your were indeed a WARRIOR!
Godspeed, Brother. JonD and others are waiting for for you! Give them all HUGS from us!

Bob, what can I say?  I could start with what I usually told you when we met at missions- "Did I ever tell you you're my hero?" to which you would pull me in close and sing loud enough to embarrass us both "you are the wind beneath my wings".  You were one funny man.  I can't remember a time when I was in your presence when you didn't make me laugh.  Ok, there is one exception and that was when you were in your coma but I imagine you were making jokes we just couldn't hear them.  The memories that we discussed at your bed side did make me laugh.  I will truly, truly miss you.

Unfortunately the pain we feel when we lose someone is in direct portion to the love we had for them.  There are many people in pain today because you were loved by many.  You made everyone you met smile.  That is a remarkable statement but it is true.

Kathy, please do not hesitate to ask if you need anything.   I wish there was something I could do to ease your pain.

My dear friend Bob, I miss you so much.  I know we have been very fortunate to have you as long as we did (but yet it just didn't seem long enough).  You made everyone laugh and brought so much joy into our lives.  Looking back through the photos, thank god for all the memories.  There's so many of you with children - they all loved you too.  You took the time to make them feel special and they could feel that.  All the service members hugs and handshakes - even if you weren't feeling great.  You knew why it was important to do what we do and what it stands for.
I recall riding on 90 and feeding you cheetos ...and we weren't even on the same bike.  Boy was that stupid but fun at the time.  Kath probably didn't like it, but JonD thought it was funny too.  I don't know if it was Britney or Madonna that you were signing that day you came roaring into Sideouts, but we all enjoyed it.   Remember what happened in DC, stays in DC!  Thank you for always being there, especially over the past three years.    We will take care of Kath.  I love you Wheelmaster and I know you knew that.  Ride in peace until we meet again.

I know I'm getting old. Every time I go to post something, tell you how much you are missed, the flood gates of memories come back and I choke up. There are so many things I want to tell you that I probably should have while I had the chance, but the most important I did tell you was "I love you sweetie."

Today is your birthday, without candles and cake.
And since your not with us, we will not celebrate.
We cannot send you a birthday card, your hands we cannot touch.
So we ask God to give a message to the one we love so much.
And grant us one wish and make it come true.
To have his choir of Angels sing Happy Birthday to you!

Love you wheely and miss you my friend.

It's been awhile since I have been here. That doesn't mean I don't think about you, because I do.

I miss the old days so much.   I miss my friend.
Xoxo
