Group, WWR SEPA is in mourning this morning. A good friend and founding member, Mountain Bill, former Philadelphia Police Officer, died in a motorcycle accident yesterday. Please help us with our condolences.

I was just in a Mountain Bill bearhug a week ago.

Jeff, I will move your Washroom thread here.

OMG!  Rest in Peace Mountain Bill!  My heartfelt thoughts, prayers, & condolences go out to you & your family during this very sad & difficult time.  You will be greatly missed & always be in our thoughts & never forgotten!

May you always walk in sunshine and God's love around you flow, for the happiness you gave us, no one will ever know, it broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, a part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

A million times we've needed you.

A million times we've cried.

If love could only have saved you.

You never would have died.

The Lord be with you

And May You Rest in Peace.

I can't believe this. When Mama Jane told me he was in an accident and hurt pretty bad, I thought anything that hits this Mountain of a man had to get the worst of it. Just shows that you can never let your guard down. I'll miss you Bill and the rides we shared will always stand out in my mind and will bring fond memories of you.

MaMa Kat
I feel a warmth around me
like your presence is so near,
And I close my eyes to visualize
your face when you were here,
I adore the times we spent together
and they are locked inside my heart,
For as long as I have those memories
we will never be apart,
Even though we cannot speak no more
my voice is always there,
Because every night before I sleep
I have you in my prayer.

In many ways Mountain Bill epitomized the typical WWRider. He was with us in the beginning, he made the Big Crossover from Yellow&Blue to Black and Gold along with the original "25" Warriors' Watch founders. He was a Patriot, a loving father and an ex-Philadelphia Police Officer. He made all the rides, long and short, except for periods where serious health issues stopped him, or when he was doting on his beloved son.

We had furious arguments about the best direction of WWR "policy," which were always followed, sooner or later, by ferocious bear-hugs. Anyone who has been in receipt of one of those man-hugs knows what I mean.

Bill was a Mountain of a Man, a man whose physical size belied his human frailities. Dear God, he will be missed.

We are requesting that, at least in SOUTHEAST PA, All Warriors' Watch Patches, large and small, be crossed with black ribbon or cloth or tape, from now until 3 days after the funeral, details of which we still do not have of course.

Thanks.

Almighty God I lift to you the Paubst family and thank you for your overwhelming peace in their lives amidst this terrible time.  Thank you for comforting them with loved ones and for reminding them that for your children God, death is not the end,  that your children never die but have eternal life through your Son.  That comfort may abound in the knowledge that to Bill we can say “See you later”.  Our prayers are with you all.

God bless.

MaMa Kat
I feel a warmth around me
like your presence is so near,
And I close my eyes to visualize
your face when you were here,
I adore the times we spent together
and they are locked inside my heart,
For as long as I have those memories
we will never be apart,
Even though we cannot speak no more
my voice is always there,
Because every night before I sleep
I have you in my prayer.

Yesterday, I lost my bike key and security fob in Gloucester, MA. A slight inconvenience to say the least...but that is a story for another day.

Today I was riding up through Maine, and for a moment I glanced upward at a crisp blue cloudless sky, and it prompted me to begin wondering if Bill was able to meet up with Al and Papa Joe or any of my other biker angels. I was wondering if he was able to come along with me on the gorgeous ride I took today along the coast from Kennebunkport to Bar Harbor. And then I got a rush of full body chills.

Right after that moment, my friend that was leading pulled over for gas. And then, I suddenly remembered I wanted to call Gloucester PD today to see if my keys might have turned up in their lost and found.

I am still completely stunned that the officer on the other end of the phone told me he had them in hand.

I don't know for sure if Bill had anything to do with this miraculous stroke of luck, but I am going to believe he did.

Sorry, Bill. I can't say RIP to you. I don't want you to rest at all. I want you to stay busy looking after me and the rest of the WWR!

Sadly, I am going to miss the viewing. But instead of saying I will be there in spirit, I am going to say, I hope Bill will be riding with me in spirit. Wednesday morning I plan to ride to the top of Cadillac Mountain. When I get there, I plan to take a moment to say my goodbye as if I were at the viewing. For Mountain Bill, I think a ride to the top of a mountain is a fitting tribute.

I hope that anyone else that knew Mountain Bill, who can't make the service, finds the highest point near them, and rides to the top to pay their respects.

Fefe, I picture some of my loved ones sitting in rocking chairs on a porch sharing stories and watching us.  I see Bill, Al, Stretch, Papa Joe, et al leisurely riding above us.  Of course Bill had something to do with your keys as Al shook his head with a little laugh.

The physical presence is a blurring comfort to the family.  We continually show/pay our respects in our thoughts and deeds.

To Fefe and our other WW family members here or out of State, who can't attend in person, feel Bill's and our hugs as you have your moments of silence.

I remember my 1st conversation with Bill. We were down in Maryland. Asking me about Philly Pd, who, what and such. I didn't know how to take it. I remember our last conversation, about his new/older bike. I'll remember those handshakes with that hug.
The pleasure was all mine Bill. Thanks Bro.

I hope the family is able to read these posts knowing that our words are love for them also.

Mike, I agree.

Aside from my personal memories, the first one that popped into mind is really my daughter's.  Bill and Shiloh knew the Bucks County Paramedic who passed away and they met at the funeral home.  Bill said he felt a tug, turned around, looked down and asked if he could help her.   After they put together the real names with my nickname, they chatted. She'd told me what a nice and gracious man he was.   Every time since, he always thought to ask how my “ridiculously beautiful daughter” was doing or asked about her by name.  That one meeting was enough for her to realize we lost a good man and ask me to pass on her condolences, as Robin and MaryJane/Sidekick have done also.

Ed and I await instructions for tomorrow.

Mike, the following is a quote from Bill's sister, Wendy, on FaceBook:

"Hello everyone, I am Bill's sister. I just want to thank all of you for your kind words and thoughts. Bill loved being a part of the Warrior's and going to greet the soldiers when they came home - especially when it was our soldier - Bill's son. I would love to hear stories, memories that you all have of him if you could post the memories, thoughts as you remember them. He will be forever in my heart and thank you all for being a part of his life. Wendy Detky"

An American Soldier is someone who, at some point in their life, wrote out a check, payable"to the United States of America" for the sum total of up to and including my life." We as citizens of those same United States owe them no less than unconditional support.
