Saturday 6/26/10 Honor Mission “Papa Joe” Blasingame. The Warriors Watch Riders have been requested by the Blasingame family to escort and honor Papa Joe on his final ride.

Staging:

Saturday, June 26 11:45AM
Alcovy High School, 14567 Hwy 36, Covington, GA 30014

Escorted by LEO, we will be escorting the Blasingame family
and Papa Joe to the National Guard Armory in Covington.
KSU promptly at 12:30pm.

Memorial Service:

National Guard Armory, 4124 Carroll Street SW, Covington, GA 30014
Escort to Arrive at Armory no later than 1:15PM
Memorial Service Starts 2:00PM

There will be no flag line prior to or during the service.  All are
welcome to remain at the Armory for Papa Joe’s memorial.  If
anyone cannot remain at the Armory for the full service, or if
you are arriving after 2pm, the family and the National Guard
ask that you park in the adjacent lot so as not to disturb the
                               proceedings once they begin.

Papa Joe was our GA Asst. State Coordinator of the Warriors Watch Riders.  He was a staunch supporter of our military, and participated in numerous memorial missions, send off's and welcome home missions for our servicemen and women.

Papa Joe was especially supportive of the Georgia National Guard 121st Bravo Company, based in Covington, during their recent year long deployment to Afghanistan.  Joe quietly and selflessly took on the role of patriarch of the "Black Sheep", assisting many of the families while their husbands and fathers were away at war, providing needed repairs to the Bravo Co. armory facility itself, providing a full Thanksgiving dinner last November for the ENTIRE company in Afghanistan, and doing whatever else was needed to provide help on the home front for this unit and their families.  For his service and commitment, the state of Georgia and the Georgia National Guard presented Papa Joe with the Georgia Commendation Medal in May of this year, the third highest award that can be bestowed on a Georgia serviceman, and rarely awarded to a civilian.

A memorial service is being presented for Papa Joe by his family, the officers and members of 1-121st Georgia National Guard Bravo Co., and the Warriors Watch Riders.  Joe's services will be held at the National Guard  Armory in Covington GA.  While Papa Joe was a retired police officer and firefighter, he was not a veteran of the military, and as such his family requests no flag line at his service. But there will be a flagged motorcycle escort for the Blasingame family on the day of the service, and everyone who would like to attend and participate is welcome.  There will be full LEO support.  (The family has requested American Flags only, no branch of service or organization flags.)

We want to make Papa Joe's final ride a memorable one in his honor and for his family. Please join us and the community in celebration of Papa Joe’s life. "Make It Big" !!!!!

It saddens me to say that we will be out of town during the memorial.  We will be thinking of all of you and I know you will do Papa Joe proud.  We miss and love you all so much and......I miss Papa Joe.

I truly feel that I served in the United States Military to protect your freedom of speech.  I also feel this gives me the right to smack you square in the mouth for saying something stupid!

An American Soldier is someone who, at some point in their life, wrote out a check, payable"to the United States of America" for the sum total of up to and including my life." We as citizens of those same United States owe them no less than unconditional support.

West Siders meet at the BP on Barrett Parkway/I-75 at 1015 Saturday with a KSU at 1030.  That should get us to Covington at 1145.

There is not enough room here to list all my blessings so I will just say I work hard and play hard.  Life has been very good to me and I have many people I would like to call friend.  I would like nothing better than to be able to walk up to you as a friend with a smile and say great to see you.
