When LJ sent word of Papa Joe's passing yesterday, my first thought was that he is now at peace.  My second thought was that now, those who loved and cared for our friend will mourn and we need to be there for them, just as Papa Joe was there for so many servicemembers and ride partners.
Remember not to just mourn his passing, but to also celebrate his life.
May the road rise to meet you.......

I don't know what else I could say about the man other than he inspired you to be a better person.
Anyone who didn't meet him has truly missed out.

Our heart and prayers go out to his family.

May God bless and comfort you all

With love
Frank and Rhonda Stephens

I met Joe many years ago when I was a young firefighter and EMT working with him at Conyers FD. One of the first critical EMS calls I went on was to a man in cardiac arrest. Joe worked for the EMS service and was on the ambulance that responded. He and the other veterans knew there was no hope reviving the person but I, young and full of thoughts to save the world, only knew I had to keep trying. After it was all over, Joe took the time to talk to me about the whole experience and help me understand we can't save the world but we do our part to help those we can and make it better . That is the Joe I remember, Always taking time to help someone when he could, always caring. I know I am a better person for knowing Joe. When Joe contacted me about joining WWR I knew it must be something special, otherwise he wouldnt have anything to do with it. I am glad to have known him and will always remember him.
May God Bless Carol and their family and comfort you knowing Joe isnt in pain any longer and that he is in Heaven looking down smiling. He will always be with you whever you are.

Miss you Buddy!

I truly feel that I served in the United States Military to protect your freedom of speech.  I also feel this gives me the right to smack you square in the mouth for saying something stupid!

I know someone has got to have the un-edited picture of Papa Joe with his arm around nobody that was used for photo shop purposes.  If you can find it can you post it?
