After posting I started to get ready for work-the sun was just coming up and it was beautiful. Normally I am rushing trying to feed everyone but today I sat on my porch for a while and watched the sun rise. I thought about a lot of things-mostly just how lucky we are to call PaPa Joe and Carol our friends, our family.

This is a prayer by a friend on another site, posted yesterday. I have been posting there about Papa Joe. I was reluctant to post it here, but was encouraged to do so by several.

This is from a wonderful lady we know as "Heavenly Turtle", who we consider to be the "chaplain" on that other site.

She wrote...

"Father God, as Papa Joe lives out his last days here please send Your angels to surround him, his family and his friends. Give them the peace and comfort only You can bring. May his passing be a beautiful testimony to Your loving care and concern for him and for them. We ask it in Your Son's name,
Amen"

Thanks Moonshine for the Front Porch Reflections.

There is not enough room here to list all my blessings so I will just say I work hard and play hard.  Life has been very good to me and I have many people I would like to call friend.  I would like nothing better than to be able to walk up to you as a friend with a smile and say great to see you.

From Carol-

Joe arrived at Hospice Atlanta yesterday about 4:30pm. He slept the best since arriving at Emory on 5/30/10. It is so peaceful here at the facility and the staff is compassionate and attentive to his needs. We have elected to administer pain medication only at Joe's request this morning. He has told us he is at peace with God and is ready to be in heaven. He is sleeping most of the time. He is still speaking but of few words. This CANCER has progressed rapidly and really hasn't given the kids and I any time to digest it all. But now it is hitting us hard. Our kids and our very close friend Cheryl have been right there with Joe & I in this journey and it has brought us even closer as a family then I ever dreamed it could. Everyone of you have been there for us in some way but most of all with your prayers. Please continue to pray for Joe thanking God for giving Joe the peace he has been searching.

Love you all,
Carol

An American Soldier is someone who, at some point in their life, wrote out a check, payable"to the United States of America" for the sum total of up to and including my life." We as citizens of those same United States owe them no less than unconditional support.
