Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of LCpl Joey Braun. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know your son was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. He will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Joey.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the Braun family at this time of great sorrow.  Please accept my families condolences and prayers as you go through this most difficult time.  Your loved one will be missed, however not forgotten in the hearts that cared for him.

Please God...Grant them courage, when times seem bleak.  Grant them strength when they feel weak.  Grant them comfort, when they feel all alone.  And most of all, God, Please bring them ALL home.

To the Family and Friends of Joey Braun,

There are no words that I can write that would ease the pain you are feeling. I can only tell you how terribly sorry my entire family is upon hearing of this young heroe's passing.  Although I wasn't lucky enough to meet Joey at his Welcome Home last month, I grieve with you.  I can only promise that I will stand in his honor and I will pray that you will find the strength to carry on.  Joey will not be forgotten. Standing by in Green Oaks...........

Sincerely,

Rest now Hero. I am blessed to have met you Joey. I regret we had 3 other welcome homes to do the morning we surprised you at church but I know you and your folks understood when I told ya if we stayed to eat another hero would not get his welcome. I told you quietly that I would be waiting and be there when you got back and so I will , but with tears of sorrow instead of what I expected. I will always remember your warm smile and the way you hugged each member as we filed by. And I do remember the kisses you gave some of our female members lol. God Bless you Marine and God Bless the Braun Family and all your freind of which I'm sure there were many.

Tears of sadness fill my eyes as I write this note to the loving parents and family of Joey Braun:

A baby boy born to a young couple, with thoughts and dreams of his future, through the years of childhood watching him play, learn and grow.  They see him become a young man and make decisions about the life he will lead.  Never knowing but always wanting the best for him, for he is their son, they love him and are proud.   Now is the time they and all of us mourn the loss of this loving son and soldier, Joey Braun, remember his spirit, his smile, the laughter and the tears.  He served his country well and gave the ultimate price.  We hold you in our hearts now and forever.  God Bless.

I didn't get enough time to really get to know Joey, but he honored me by riding on my trike back to the family home that day.  I will never forget the big grin he had, and how much he thanked me.

I would be honored to escort Joey again.  My deepest condolences to his family.  You're in my prayers.

Some preliminary scouting information on the church for Tuesday morning:

First United Methodist is located on the south side of the street at 201 West South Street in Woodstock.  There is very limited parking on the east side of the church, but if you go west past the church there is a sign directing you to church parking just past the rectory.  This narrow driveway will lead to a large parking lot southwest of the church building.

I'm going to ask that bikes and cages use this southwest lot, and that we park in the most-southern spaces to allow room for family and friends to park closer to the church building.  We will set our flag line in the front of the church on W. South Street.

I haven't yet been able to talk directly with church personnel, so keep an eye on this thread for updates as needed and available.

And may God bless the family and friends of USMC LCpl Joey Braun in these darkest of days.

As I prepare my bike for this solemn occasion,  I recall doing the same just a little over a month ago.  That time was for a much happier day for Joe Braun and family.  May the memories of happier times help ease the pain of today and tomorrow for the family and friends of Joe.  Please know that his service and sacrifice will never be forgotten by his adopted WWR family, along with his great smile and happiness and confidence we all saw and felt when we met him just last month.

Rest in peace Marine, we have the watch now....

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of UNITED STATES MARINES.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze,
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far off northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job --
The UNITED STATES MARINES.

Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By UNITED STATES MARINES.

Joey, your watch is over and you may
                      STAND DOWN!
You have a new duty to watch over us
And guard Heaven’s streets.
My heart goes with you Marine..

We here on the East Coast have had a couple of these where we welcomed or honored a hero, only to say farewell  a short time later.  These hurt more than others sometimes because you get to know them on a personal basis. Looking at his picture and putting a face with the name has hit us hard.  Our most sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of this proud American hero.
From all of us in the Garden State of New Jersey, Rest in Peace Joe Braun.

Hey Joey,

We just put a fellow Marine, Greg E. Homola, right next to ya.  You guys probably have all kinds of stories to swap.

I had forgotten what a great place you are at.

Take care buddy.

I know you and Greg H (Thank You, Greg, as well) are with JonD. I know he will keep those stories going (All true too!) and the laughs flowing.

You will never be forgotten Joey, nor all our military men and women, for your service to our nation.

Rest in Peace

It's been awhile since I have come here to see you Joey, probably because we visit you and George often where you both rest. How about that flag? I know you like it and can see that never forgotten smile.
Every time we come to see you, and George, she looks so nice waving in the wind. There is more to be added and you'll see when it's done. For this one we hope to have the "gang" present. You'll hear 'em...Don't ya love surprises

Merry Christmas, Joey. I know we talked just a few weeks ago when we put the wreath up, but had to stop by on Christmas Eve. Hopefully we'll get the plaque put up under that beautiful flag soon. Miss ya!
